As of ROCm 7.0, the internal error state is cleared on each call to `hipGetLastError` rather than on every HIP API call. ## hipRAND 3.0.0 for ROCm 7.0 ### Added * gfx950 support ### Changed * Deprecated hipRAND's Fortran API in favor of hipfort. ### Removed * Removed C++14 support, only C++17 is supported. ## hipRAND 2.12.0 for ROCm 6.4.0 ### Changed * When building hipRAND on Windows, use `HIP_PATH` (instead of the former `HIP_DIR`) to specify the path to the HIP SDK installation. * When building with the `rmake.py` script, if `HIP_PATH` is not set, it will default to `C:\hip`. ### Resolved issues * Fixed an issue that was causing hipRAND build failures on Windows when the HIP SDK was installed to a location with a path that contains spaces. ## hipRAND-2.11.1 for ROCm 6.2.4 ### Added * GFX1151 Support ## hipRAND 2.11.0 for ROCm 6.2.0 ### Added * Added support for setting generator output ordering in C and C++ API * `hiprandCreateGeneratorHost` dispatches to the host generator in the rocRAND backend instead of returning with `HIPRAND_STATUS_NOT_IMPLEMENTED` * Added the option to create a host generator to the Fortran wrapper * Added the option to create a host generator to the Python wrapper ### Changed * Updated the default value for the `-a` argument from `rmake.py` to `gfx906:xnack-,gfx1030,gfx1100,gfx1101,gfx1102,gfx1151,gfx1200,gfx1201`. * For internal testing with HMM the environment variable `ROCRAND_USE_HMM` was used in previous versions, it is now changed to `HIPRAND_USE_HMM`. * The device API documentation is improved in this version. * Static library: moved all internal symbols to namespaces to avoid potential symbol name collisions when linking. ### Removed * Removed the option to build hipRAND as a submodule to rocRAND * Removed references to, and workarounds for, the deprecated `hcc` * Support for finding rocRAND based on the environment variable `ROCRAND_DIR` has been removed `ROCRAND_PATH` can be used instead. ### Resolved issues * Fixed an issue in `rmake.py` where the list storing cmake options would contain individual characters instead of a full string of options. * Build error when using Clang++ directly due to unsupported references to `amdgpu-target` ## hipRAND-2.10.17 for ROCm 5.6.0 ### Fixes * Fixed benchmark and unit test builds on Windows ## hipRAND-2.10.16 for ROCm 5.5.0 ### Additions * rocRAND backend support for Sobol 64, Scrambled Sobol 32 and 64, and MT19937 * `hiprandGenerateLongLong` for generating 64-bit uniformly distributed integers with Sobol 64 and Scrambled Sobol 64 * Accessor methods for Sobol 32 and 64 direction vectors and constants: * Enum `hiprandDirectionVectorSet_t` for direction vector set selection * `hiprandGetDirectionVectors32(...)` * `hiprandGetDirectionVectors32(...)` * `hiprandGetScrambleConstants32(...)` * `hiprandGetScrambleConstants32(...)` ### Changes * Python 2.7 is no longer officially supported. ## hipRAND for ROCm 5.2.0 ### Additions * Backward compatibility for the deprecated `#include ` using wrapper header files * Packages for test and benchmark executables on all supported operating systems using CPack ## hipRAND for ROCm 5.0.0 ### Additions * Initial split from rocRAND hipRAND-rocm-7.1.0/CMakeLists.txt000066400000000000000000000234521506506362400164570ustar00rootroot00000000000000# MIT License # # Copyright (c) 2018-2024 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. This repository follows the [git flow](http://nvie.com/posts/a-successful-git-branching-model/) workflow, which dictates a /master branch where releases are cut, and a /develop branch which serves as an integration branch for new code. * A [git extention](https://github.com/nvie/gitflow) has been developed to ease the use of the 'git flow' methodology, but requires manual installation by the user. Refer to the projects wiki. ## Pull-request guidelines * target the **develop** branch for integration * ensure code builds successfully * do not break existing test cases * new functionality will only be merged with new unit tests * new unit tests should integrate within the existing [googletest framework](https://github.com/google/googletest/blob/master/googletest/docs/Primer.md) * tests must have good code coverage * code must also have benchmark tests, and performance must be acceptable to maintainers hipRAND-rocm-7.1.0/LICENSE.md000066400000000000000000000020701506506362400153140ustar00rootroot00000000000000MIT License Copyright (C) Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. The documentation source files reside in the `docs` folder of this repository. As with all ROCm projects, the documentation is open source. For more information on contributing to the documentation, see [Contribute to ROCm documentation](https://rocm.docs.amd.com/en/latest/contribute/contributing.html). hipRAND is a RAND marshalling library with multiple supported backends. It sits between your application and the backend RAND library, where it marshals inputs to the backend and results to the application. hipRAND exports an interface that doesn't require the client to change, regardless of the chosen backend. hipRAND supports [rocRAND](https://github.com/ROCm/rocm-libraries/tree/develop/projects/rocrand). ## Requirements You must have the following installed to use hipRAND: * CMake (3.16 or later) * For AMD GPUs: * AMD ROCm Software (5.0.0 or later) * rocRAND library ## Build and install You can download pre-built packages by following the [ROCm Install Guide](https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/install-on-linux/en/latest/how-to/native-install/index.html), or by clicking the github releases tab (this option could have a newer version). Once downloaded, use the following command to install hipRAND: `sudo apt update && sudo apt install hiprand` To build hipRAND, you can use the bash helper script (Ubuntu only) or build manually (for all supported platforms): * Bash helper build script: The helper script `install` is located in the root of the `projects/hiprand` folder. Note that this method doesn't take many options and hard-codes a configuration that you can specify by invoking CMake directly. A few commands in the script need sudo access, so it may prompt you for a password. * `./install -h`: Shows help * `./install -id`: Builds library, dependencies, and installs (the `-d` flag only needs to be passed once on a system) * Manual build: For information on cloning and building the hipRAND library, see the [hipRAND installation documentation](https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/hipRAND/en/latest/install/installation.html) for version 7.0 or later. It has helpful information on how to configure CMake and build manually. ## Interface examples The hipRAND interface is compatible with rocRAND and cuRAND-v2 APIs. Porting a CUDA application that calls the cuRAND API to an application that calls the hipRAND API is relatively straightforward. For example, to create a generator: ### Host API ```c hiprandStatus_t hiprandCreateGenerator( hiprandGenerator_t* generator, hiprandRngType_t rng_type ) ``` ### Device API Here is an example that generates a log-normally distributed float from a generator (these functions are templated for all generators). ```c __device__ double hiprand_log_normal_double( hiprandStateSobol64_t* state, double mean, double stddev ) ``` ## Building the documentation locally ### Requirements #### Doxygen The build system uses Doxygen [version 1.9.4](https://github.com/doxygen/doxygen/releases/tag/Release_1_9_4). You can try using a newer version, but that might cause issues. After you have downloaded Doxygen version 1.9.4: ```shell # Add doxygen to your PATH echo 'export PATH=/bin:$PATH' >> ~/.bashrc # Apply the updated .bashrc source ~/.bashrc # Confirm that you are using version 1.9.4 doxygen --version ``` #### Python The build system uses Python version 3.10. You can try using a newer version, but that might cause issues. You can install Python 3.10 alongside your other Python versions using [pyenv](https://github.com/pyenv/pyenv?tab=readme-ov-file#installation): ```shell # Install Python 3.10 pyenv install 3.10 # Create a Python 3.10 virtual environment pyenv virtualenv 3.10 venv_hiprand # Activate the virtual environment pyenv activate venv_hiprand ``` ### Building After cloning this repository and navigating into its directory: ```shell # Install Python dependencies python3 -m pip install -r docs/sphinx/requirements.txt # Build the documentation python3 -m sphinx -T -E -b html -d docs/_build/doctrees -D language=en docs docs/_build/html ``` You can then open `docs/_build/html/index.html` in your browser to view the documentation. hipRAND-rocm-7.1.0/cmake/000077500000000000000000000000001506506362400147715ustar00rootroot00000000000000hipRAND-rocm-7.1.0/cmake/Dependencies.cmake000066400000000000000000000121211506506362400203560ustar00rootroot00000000000000# MIT License # # Copyright (c) 2018-2024 Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. How the downloaded # and unpacked contents are used is up to the caller, but the motivating case is # to download source code which can then be included directly in the build with # add_subdirectory() after the call to download_project(). Source and build # directories are set up with this in mind. # # The PROJ argument is required. The projectName value will be used to construct # the following variables upon exit (obviously replace projectName with its actual # value): # # projectName_SOURCE_DIR # projectName_BINARY_DIR # # The SOURCE_DIR and BINARY_DIR arguments are optional and would not typically # need to be provided. They can be specified if you want the downloaded source # and build directories to be located in a specific place. The contents of # projectName_SOURCE_DIR and projectName_BINARY_DIR will be populated with the # locations used whether you provide SOURCE_DIR/BINARY_DIR or not. # # The DOWNLOAD_DIR argument does not normally need to be set. It controls the # location of the temporary CMake build used to perform the download. # # The PREFIX argument can be provided to change the base location of the default # values of DOWNLOAD_DIR, SOURCE_DIR and BINARY_DIR. If all of those three arguments # are provided, then PREFIX will have no effect. The default value for PREFIX is # CMAKE_BINARY_DIR. # # The QUIET option can be given if you do not want to show the output associated # with downloading the specified project. # # In addition to the above, any other options are passed through unmodified to # ExternalProject_Add() to perform the actual download, patch and update steps. # # Only those ExternalProject_Add() arguments which relate to downloading, patching # and updating of the project sources are intended to be used. Also note that at # least one set of download-related arguments are required. # # If using CMake 3.2 or later, the UPDATE_DISCONNECTED option can be used to # prevent a check at the remote end for changes every time CMake is run # after the first successful download. See the documentation of the ExternalProject # module for more information. It is likely you will want to use this option if it # is available to you. Note, however, that the ExternalProject implementation contains # bugs which result in incorrect handling of the UPDATE_DISCONNECTED option when # using the URL download method or when specifying a SOURCE_DIR with no download # method. Fixes for these have been created, the last of which is scheduled for # inclusion in CMake 3.8.0.
